In the vibrant and dynamic world of campus engagement, leadership defines the success of programs and the strength of student connections. Jeremy Lichtig and Mara Zeichner, two dedicated professionals, have recently been promoted to critical roles within Hillel UGA and Hillels of Georgia (HGA). These promotions recognize their tireless dedication, visionary thinking, and unwavering commitment to fostering thriving Jewish communities on campus.
Jeremy, formerly Hillel UGA Campus Director, has been promoted to an expanded role of Hillel UGA Campus Director/HGA Campus Liaison. As HGA Campus Liaison, Jeremy steps into a multifaceted position with a broad scope of responsibilities that underscore his deep expertise in campus operations and leadership development. His role bridges the gap between the overarching goals of HGA and the individual needs of each campus under its purview. Jeremy will now provide direct supervision to four full-time Campus Directors (Emory, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Kennesaw State University) as well as the part-time director for Georgia Southern/SCAD.
One of the central aspects of Jeremy’s new responsibilities is serving as the primary point of contact during campus crises. Whether navigating complex situations or ensuring that issues are escalated appropriately, Jeremy’s calm and strategic approach will provide a vital support system to students and staff. In addition, he will work closely with Campus Directors to implement student engagement plans that reflect the unique character of each campus community. His thoughtful facilitation of regular Directors’ meetings and his hands-on presence on campuses across the state will ensure the advancement of HGA’s mission.
Mara, formerly Assistant Director for Hillels UGA, has been promoted to Associate Director, a role which utilizes her unique creativity and organizational prowess to blend leadership, programming, and community-building. At the heart of her work is a commitment to enriching the student experience through innovative and inclusive initiatives as well as supervising the Hillel UGA Staff. From Shabbat and holiday programming to Taglit-Birthright Israel trips, Mara’s ability to infuse Jewish values into programming resonates deeply with the student community.
Mara’s expertise in relationship-building serves as the cornerstone of her approach. By modeling effective community-organizing skills, she develops meaningful relationships with students and staff alike, fostering an environment where every student feels seen and supported. Her leadership shines through in her collaboration with staff and student boards, ensuring that programming reflects both the needs of students and the larger mission of Hillel. Under her guidance, the student board flourishes, with Mara offering invaluable mentorship, training, and strategic advice.
Together, Jeremy and Mara exemplify the values of vision, collaboration, and innovation that are central to Hillel’s mission. Jeremy’s ability to guide campus leaders and navigate complex organizational structures complements Mara’s hands-on leadership style and her passion for creating transformative student experiences. Their promotions signal a bright future for HGA and Hillel UGA, as they work to foster vibrant, supportive Jewish communities across campuses.
In celebrating Jeremy and Mara’s new roles, we also honor their unwavering dedication to the students and staff they serve. Their leadership not only enriches the present but also builds a foundation for future growth and success. Congratulations to Jeremy and Mara—your work inspires us all!
